The Queen of Black Magic is a supernatural horror film that combines elements of mystery, thriller, and gore. It tells the story of a group of adult orphans who return to their old orphanage to visit their dying former caretaker, only to discover that a dark secret from their past has come back to haunt them. The movie is full of shocking twists, disturbing scenes, and creepy atmosphere that will make you shiver.
The Plot: A Dark Mystery Unfolds at an Orphanage
The movie begins with Hanif (Ario Bayu), his wife Nadya (Hannah Al Rashid), and their three children Sandi (Ari Irham), Dina (Adhisty Zara), and Haqi (Muzakki Ramdhan) driving to Hanif's old orphanage in a remote rural area. Hanif wants to see Pak Bandi (Yayu Unru), his former caretaker who is terminally ill. On their way, they hit something on the road, but they only find a dead deer, not noticing a girl lying in a ditch nearby.
At the orphanage, they are greeted by Hanif's childhood friends Anton (Tanta Ginting) and Jefri (Miller Khan), their wives Eva (Imelda Therinne) and Lina (Salvita Decorte), and Maman (Ade Firman Hakim) and Siti (Sheila Dara Aisha), who are now caretakers. The place is mostly empty, as most of the children are on a bus trip. Haqi becomes curious about a locked door in his room, which Rani (Shenina Cinnamon), one of the older children, tells him is where Ibu Mirah (Ruth Marini), a clubfooted woman who used to work there, was locked up until she died. Rani says that Ibu Mirah went crazy after Murni (Putri Ayudya), a girl who ran away from the orphanage, was taken by a demon.
Hanif feels guilty about hitting someone on the road, so he takes Jefri with him to check on it. They find the girl in the ditch, who is still alive but badly injured. They take her to the hospital, where they learn that she is Murni, the girl who disappeared 30 years ago. Murni recognizes Hanif and Jefri and tells them that they are all going to die. She also says that Ibu Mirah was not crazy, but a victim of black magic.
Meanwhile, at the orphanage, strange and horrifying things start to happen. The children on the bus trip are attacked by a swarm of insects and crash into a river. Nadya sees a ghostly figure in the mirror and cuts her own face with a razor. Sandi is lured into the basement by a voice and finds a corpse covered in maggots. Dina is chased by a headless mannequin and falls from the stairs. Haqi opens the locked door and unleashes a dark force that possesses him.
Hanif and Jefri return to the orphanage and find out that Pak Bandi has died. They also discover that Murni was pregnant when she ran away, and that Pak Bandi was the father of her child. They realize that Pak Bandi was the one who cursed Ibu Mirah and Murni with black magic, and that he also abused and killed many other children at the orphanage. They decide to burn Pak Bandi's body and his belongings to end the curse, but they are too late. The Queen of Black Magic, the spirit of Ibu Mirah, has already taken over the place and is seeking revenge on everyone who wronged her.
